Bowling and Equestrian for 2016 have begun!!

Tuesday, Sept 6 was the first day of horseback riding. It went very well for the first day. We had a couple of new volunteers and even a new horse this year. Milly is a beautiful horse but decided she really didn’t wan tto participate and sat right down in the middle of the ride. We were very proud of our athlete, Patty Price , who was riding Milly. She never panicked or made loud noises to startle Milly more. She exited the horse and all was good!

Bowling began at Byllye lanes on Sunday, Sept.11. Lisa Mclaughlin , once again, had everything very well organized and with a few small changes, the “strikes” started to fly! We still have a few open spots so if you are interested, contact us by Sept 16.

We are in need of volunteers to help with our athletic programs thoughout the year. You DO NOT have to be athletically trained…just have compassion and patience! We will help you with all duties.

  Be a Fan Torch Run

Law enforcement officers across PA are giving their all on

June 2 – celebrating the 5th Annual “Be A Fan” Torch Run with a

ceremonial kick-off from PNC Park.

More than 400 officers

will relay the Flame of Hope over 150 miles from
Pittsburgh to Penn State University.

Then, law enforcement volunteers will light the Olympic Cauldron on June 4 … and kick off the
46th Annual Special Olympics PA Summer Games
for more than 2,000 eager athletes.

This Is Where You Come In!

We count on friends like you to make sure no athlete “pays to play.”
Help PA law enforcement officers reach their fundraising goal by making a $46 donation in honor of Summer Games’ 46th anniversary, or a gift in any amount, today.
Or, fund the participation of one (1) athlete at Summer Games with a heartfelt $200 gift.

Read how your support changed the life of Summer Games athlete Mike Silvis:

Fifteen years ago, Mike was a very shy young man. But one evening at Summer Games, he stood before 5,000 people and told them what Special Olympics means to him. Soon after, he began to take on leadership roles and became a floor hockey coach — all while staying involved as an athlete in basketball, bocce, golf, swimming, volleyball and bowling.

Now Mike spreads the word about Special Olympics to service groups and school aged children. Through Special Olympics, Mike and thousands of others have turned seeming shortcomings into a power of their own.

Mike is just one of nearly 20,000 athletes in Pennsylvania who deserve to experience the pride, courage, and joy of being a champion.
